/ September 18, 2013) Related By Steve Schmadeke Tribune reporter 5:23 p.m. CDT, September 18, 2013 A high-end custom clothes maker whose clients have included celebrities has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman who lives in his Gold Coast apartment building. Elhadji Gueye, 49, whose HAJ Designs has made clothes for Mike Tyson and comedian Bernie Mac, is accused of raping a 29-year-old woman who had invited him over for dinner, according to Cook County prosecutors. Prosecutors said the woman invited Gueye and his two daughters to her studio apartment for dinner on Aug. 27, but Gueye, who is married, arrived alone. He ate dinner while she cleaned her kitchen, then pushed her onto a couch and sexually assaulted her as she screamed, Assistant State’s Attorney Bridget O’Brien said. Afterward, O’Brien said, he made a plate of food and took it back to his apartment. The woman went to Northwestern Memorial Hospital the next day and gave a statement to police, O’Brien said. Gueye turned himself in to Chicago police on Tuesday. His attorney, Earl Grinbarg, said in bond court that his client was being “extort(ed)” by “a lady who thought she found the golden goose.” “This young lady set him up,” Grinbarg said. “My client is a fool for these acts of consensual sex, but he is not a rapist.” Gueye, who appeared in court in a striped sports jacket and tan pants, was ordered held on $100,000 bail by Judge Laura Sullivan, who also ordered that Gueye, a Senegal native, turn over his passport.
In unplanned comments that instantly made her an Internet and television celebrity , she used plain, direct language typical of her rural Wisconsin upbringing. The senseless trauma is something evil in our society, Orlowski said. She urged the public: Put my trauma center out of business. . . . I would like to not be an expert on gunshots. Orlowskis dramatic plea drew praise, especially from supporters of gun control. But it would be a mistake to pigeonhole her as a one-dimensional anti-gun advocate. Yes, the doctor would support stricter gun laws. But she stressed that legislation is not the sole answer. Instead, as she explained in a one-hour interview Tuesday, the remedy must be broader. I dont believe that if you have gun control, then the world is good. I believe its a combination of how we view guns, how theyre available in our society, what we do with mental health, what we do with those people who find themselves on the fringes of society, Orlowski said. To rely only on the government, she said, is in some ways a cop-out. Orlowski said it was critical for society as a whole to identify and treat people suffering from aggression, post-traumatic stress or other mental-health problems. She felt moved to speak Monday partly because she remembered a conversation with a friend, also a doctor, who helped treat victims of the 2011 mass shooting in Tucson.
Knowles, who took a short break when her daughter Blue Ivy was born in January last year, was back with a vengeance this year with her Mrs. Carter world tour, which grossed an average $2 million per night. Then there are their other interests. Jay Z is a part owner of the new Barclays Barclays Center in Brooklyn, where the Brooklyn Nets play. He sold his stake in the team and now has to dump his share in the arena, too, because hes started his own sports agency: Roc Nation Sports, which represents star athletes like Kevin Durant and Victor Cruz. Knowles has a fragrance collection and a clothing line called House of Deron. Blue Ivy could soon join the family business. Shes already been on one of her Dads songs and her parents have petitioned to trademark her name for the right to use it on anything from baby clothes to toys. Bey and Jay earned $15 million more than the No. 2 couple on our list: Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen . Like Jay Z and Knowles, Brady and Bundchen have used their fame to build bigger businesses around themselves. We estimate the couple earned a combined $80 million between June 2012 and June 2013. The highest-paid model in the world, Bundchen out-earned her football star husband by $4 million. In addition to her modelling money, Bundchen earns big off of her line of flip-flops from Brazilian footwear company Grendene. She is a part owner of the company, and its shares have doubled since 2012.
